South Africa has the highest number of dollar millionaires in Africa, according to a new report. According to a report by AfrAsia Bank and New World Wealth, Johannesburg alone, known as the "city of gold", is home to 23,400 millionaires. South Africa has 30% of the total.

Egypt's Cairo comes second with 10,200, with Nigeria's Lagos third with 9,100. The study defines millionaires as people with net assets worth at least $1m (£650,000).

It estimates there are close to 163,000 millionaires living in Africa, with a combined wealth of $670bn (£440bn).

The number of millionaires is rising fastest in Ghana's capital, Accra, the report said, even though at the moment, with 2,300, it does not make the top five. After Lagos, comes Cape Town with 8,900 and Nairobi with 6,200.

The Director General (DG) of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr. Ima Niboro has expressed his readiness to partner and synergize with the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the fight against insurgency and other security issues to move the country forward.

The DG made this known in his office when the Director of Defence Information(DDI), Colonel Rabe Abubakar paid a courtesy call to the Agency in furtherance of his familiarisation visit to media organisations in Abuja area.

The DG expressed optimism on the efforts of the military to end insurgency as they are presently in control of the situation. He enjoined Nigerians and the media to encourage and support the Nigerian Armed Forces. ”Our Armed Forces has won many laurels across the world for fighting and winning wars, they risked their lives while saving the lives of other people and so they are capable of protecting the citizens of this Nation. They should therefore be commended”, he emphasised.
He implored the media not to celebrate insurgency with screaming headlines on the pages of newspapers and televisions at the detriment of the Nation. He enjoined Nigerian media to emulate foreign media saying “you will never see foreign media showing pictures of their dead soldiers on their televisions”. “If a terrorist knows that he can kill a thousand people and no media in Nigeria will report it, he will not do so. So, as long as we keep giving screaming headlines and prominence to reports on Boko Haram, the media will keep giving them the reason to kill more people”.

NAN, as a government agency he said would do all in its power to help the Nigerian Armed Forces succeed in the war against insurgency and put the interest of the nation first at all times in its reports. Mr. Niboro used the opportunity to speak extensively on the need to set up National Strategy to counter insurgency which would be keyed-into by all security agencies and other stakeholders in the fight against insurgency.

Earlier in his address the DDI declared that the visit was to seek more collaboration and partnership with media organisations in area of information gathering dissemination and control as well synergy to end the menace of the terrorists. Col Rabe Abubakar said that, the fight against insurgency should not be left to the military alone but should be the concern of every member of the society, hence, the need for NAN to help in educating our teaming masses.

While expressing the appreciation of the Chief of Defence Staff for the support the Agency has rendered so far to the Nigerian Armed Forces in reporting insurgency, Col. Rabe Abubakar solicited for assistance of the Agency to provide training for personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria Radio Service (AFNRS).

It would be recalled that Col. Abubakar had earlier visited Ministry of Information, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Daily Trust, African Independent Television (AIT) and British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) where he campaigned for more supports for the Armed Forces, especially our troops in the North East.

A glamour model who has seduced almost 1,000 men as a TV chat host has revealed a surprising secret about herself - she was born a man.
Holly Johansson has revealed how for the first 18 years of her life, she grew up as a boy called Kasper and began modelling.
But, in 2007 Holly, made a decision to start living as a woman and since then, Holly, now 26, claims booking have gone through the roof.
She even appeared on Playboy TV Chat under a false name for six-months and seduced nearly 1,000 men on televised sex chat phone lines - some of whom didn't know she was born male.

I only tell people that I'm a transsexual when I want to, or if a situation could develop into something more physical.
"There have been a few instances where I've assumed guys know I'm pre-op transsexual.
"I was getting close to one guy I met in a pool but then when we were back in my hotel room he realised that I still had my penis and screamed.
"He was naked and I had just my underwear on, suddenly he started shouting because he couldn't believe I was pre-op.
"Another time a guy ran off yelling and even left behind one of his shoes."
Holly claims to have modelled for leading UK men's magazines- all without disclosing that she's a transsexual.
She also appeared on video sex chat lines on adult TV stations including Playboy TV Chat, the Red Light TV chain and Single TV.
She said:
"I don't always disclose that I'm a pre-op transsexual in modelling jobs because in the past I've had people turn me away once I've told them my secret.
"When I worked on the adult channels I tricked a lot of the guys and they didn't know I was a transsexual when I was on the talking to them on the phones.
"The guys who called up would talk dirty things to me as if I was a woman, but I would never correct them.I didn't want the fact that I'm transgender to ruin my modelling career so at times I'd just lie to them and they were none-the-wiser."

The police in neighbouring Niger Republic have arrested a Nigerian carrying 4.6m Euros (N1.05bn) in cash. The man was arrested at the Diori Hamani Airport in Niamey, the capital of Niger, en route Dubai in the United Arab Emirate.
Punch reports that, the Nigerien police said they suspected that the man was fleeing with the money in order to avoid being caught by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been prosecuting an anti-corruption campaign since assumption of office on May 29.
They also expressed worry that there had been an upsurge in the number of Nigerians trafficking huge sums of money in cash through the neighbouring country.

The police in Niger are already working on the suspicion that the money traffickers have accomplices in the country. The arrest of the Nigerian has been a big news item in the Nigerien newspapers and television stations.

Curiously the authorities here on Wednesday claimed ignorance of the money seizure in the neighbouring country though the Customs officers in Niger were already kicking against repatriating the cash to Nigeria.
A media report in Niger on Saturday said the National Union of Customs Officers at a press briefing “denounced the request of the Nigerian authorities” to return the seized money.
The Customs official said there had been several similar seizures in Niamey from people trafficking money from Nigeria, putting the amount that had been so seized in several billions of naira.
They said the seized money had been mainly in dollars, euros and pounds sterling, asking the Niger authorities to allow the Customs officials to do their job without interference.
When contacted, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said he could not speak on the development because his brief was to speak for the President.
He therefore referred one of our correspondents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“I speak for the President. On this kind of issues, I will advice that you speak with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he said.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the officials denied knowledge of the seizure in Niger Republic. The ministry’s spokesperson, Ogbole Ahmedu-Ode, said the ministry had not received official communication on the arrest of any Nigerian.
“I am hearing about this incident for the first time from you, we have not received any communication on the matter from any quarters,” he said over the telephone..
The Nigerien embassy in Abuja could not be reached for comment on Wednesday as calls to the mission’s phone lines failed to connect.
The spokesman for the Nigerian Customs Service, Mr Wale Adeniyi could not be reached for comments as text message and repeated calls made to his mobile line were not replied as of the time (8.30pm) of filling this report.art investigating because the Customs in Niger don’t report directly to us in Nigeria.”

An airport cleaner has been arrested with the sum of $271,135 (about N53m) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, it has been learnt.

The suspect was arrested by the aviation security personnel of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria while trying to carry the huge sum of money through the screening point.

The airport worker, named Mr. Tijani Owolabi, works with one of the cleaning contractors at the airport, according to a FAAN statement.

The statement quoted the Deputy General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mr. Onyekwere Nnaekpe, as saying that some of the foreign currency was found on Owolabi while the rest was recovered from the sanitary bucket he was holding while trying to pass through screening machine.

Nnaekpe said the agency suspected that Owolabi was conveying the currency to an accomplice at the airside of the airport.

The statement by the FAAN read in part, “Aviation security personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria today September 3, 2015 prevented the trafficking of a total sum of 271,135 American dollars through the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja.

“The sum was found on a worker with one of the cleaning contractors at the airport, Mr. Tijani Owolabi, during a pat down at one of the screening points at ‘D’ Finger of the international terminal.

“The airport cleaner who was suspected to be conveying the foreign currency to an accomplice at the sterile area of the terminal, was immediately apprehended by aviation security staff on duty and handed over to the appropriate security agencies at the airport for further investigation.”

The development came barely two weeks after an Arik Air flight attendant, Mr. Chika Udensi, was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency later arrested his accomplice, Oliver Ikechukwu Chibuzor Oliver, an Arik Air catering worker, who smuggled the drug among catering supplies into the aircraft for Udensi.

NDLEA and other security agencies said they had increased security surveillance at the nation’s airports, especially the international airports.

Cult members bury motorist alive in Lagos (Photo)

A war is brewing in the Mushin area of Lagos State after some suspected cultists dragged a motorist out of a commercial bus and buried him alive.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the yet-to-be-identified victim was on his way to the Oyingbo area of the state.

He was said to have been dragged out of the bus at the Total bus stop in the Mushin end of the Ikorodu Road.

A witness, Jacob Amos, said the incident happened around 8pm on Wednesday, adding that policemen from the Alakara Police Division were alerted.

He said, “The man was in the bus when he was dragged out at Total bus stop. They brought him into Mushin and I immediately alerted the policemen from Alakara.

“The police went to Adewusi Street, and searched the place for more than one hour, but they did not find anything. They patrolled the place and when they did not see anything, they left.

“Around 10pm when everybody had gone home, they brought the man to the Railway Line and push him from head down into a filled canal. Only his leg was sticking out.”

The victim was said to have died soon afterwards.

Our correspondent learnt that policemen from Alakara later arrived on Thursday to remove the corpse.

A witness, who did not identify himself, said the police ordered him to pull out the corpse from the murky water.

Friends of the deceased from Market Street, Oyingbo, were said to have shown up to identify him.

A resident lamented that the police in the area, were not doing enough to arrest the unrest in Mushin, lamenting that there were saboteurs in the force.

He said it was the second time in a week that people from the Oyingbo area would be hounded and killed in Mushin, which could start a war between the two communities.

He said, “The police in this area have been compromised. When we called them yesterday that someone had been captured around Oyewusi Street, an informant of the cultists whom we suspect work with the police, quickly alerted the guys and they left the place.

“They brought the victim to our side to make it look as if we are responsible for his death. Their plan is to set the Oyingbo boys against us and trigger a war.”

Residents of the area alleged that the increased killing of suspected cult members from Oyingbo was orchestrated by one Rilwan, aka Itakun.

Other men said to be in the group are White, Ese Chicago, Ina, Anarchy and Riliwanu.

The source said Itakun had his family house in Oyingbo and left the area due to persecution by some suspected cultists.

He said, “After he left, he started living in Mushin with a gang member. Later, he decided to start paying back those he perceived as the leaders of the gang in Oyingbo.

“Last week, he invited one Tunde Eleto to Mushin and the man was stabbed and shot dead by his squad,” he added.

However, another resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, denied that anyone was killed in the community.

He said, “There is nothing like that. Nobody was killed on the Railway Line or anywhere for that matter.”

A resident, John Ayuba, told PUNCH Metro that the government was complicit in the cult fights in Mushin.

He said successive governments in Lagos State had refused to address the problem because they used the cult members for politics.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, DSP Patricia Amadin, had yet to reply to a text sent to her as of press time.

Two married men with grown up children have been arrested by the Mabushi police division for
allegedly molesting and raping an underage girl in
an uncompleted building in Gishiri area.

13-year-old Peace Chinedu had accused Mr. David Sarki, a driver and Chidi Njoku, a businessman, who also live in Gishiri, of violently raping her in an uncompleted building.
Peace told our reporter that her mother went out that evening to buy some items for dinner when suddenly, Mr. Chidi Njoku, a father of three came to their house with David Sarki and requested she followed them to see something.

She said that initially, she refused, but the men
pressured her to follow them to where her mother was. On hearing that, she followed them, thinking that something bad had happened to her mother.
“I thought they were taking me to see my mum
because that was what they told me, but instead I was taken to an uncompleted building
.
When I asked them why they brought me there, Mr. David slapped me and asked me to remove my clothes.

I refused, but both men tore my clothes. They pushed me down and Mr. David Sarki raped me. I cried and pleaded to Mr. Njoku who was watching, to rescue me but he also removed his trousers and raped me.”
She said that after the rape, she felt so much pain that she started begging the two men not to kill her.
They promised not to kill her if only she wouldn’t tell anybody about the incident. When she promised that she would not tell anybody, they asked her to wear her torn pants, after which they took her home.

“When my mother came home and saw me bleeding and crying, I told her what happened and she took me to the police station,” she said.
A Mabushi police source told our reporter that when the victim was brought to the station, she could not walk and was immediately taken to the hospital.
“There was blood and sperm stain on her panties with high degree of bruises in her private part.

The results of the test proved that the two men
raped the accused. We instantly stormed the houses of the suspects who were all family men, but they ran away until the police received a tip-off and they were able to arrest them from their hideouts.”

When our reporter visited the police station, Mr.
David Sarki agreed that he and Njoku raped the girl. He claimed that the devil pushed him to do
so as his wife had denied him sex.

When the Mabushi divisional police officer, Chief
Superintendent Ayobami Surajudeen was contacted, he confirmed the incident and the arrest, but said the case would be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department.

Stop Attacking Buhari Over Appointments, Let Him Do His Job – PDP Chieftain

A former governor of old Bendel State and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia, has replied those attacking President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent appointments.

The elder statesman explained that the president needed time to settle for the best people who can work for the country.

He added that Nigerians would not forgive him if he failed.

He also described as unnecessary, attempts by some Nigerians to assess the administration in just 100 days in office.

He said, “When they knew that the man said he met everything in bad shape and in such situation you need to clean up the system so as to start on a good note.”

The PDP chieftain made this remark when he met members of the committee he set up to oversee the yearly Award of the Best Journalist in Edo State, led by a former General Manager of the Edo State Broadcasting Service (EBS), Pastor (Mrs) Sidi Lawal-Igioh.

“Nigerians asked him (Buhari) to appoint people, who can work with him and he can only appoint people he knows. If he fails by appointing a United Nation they will say it was his fault, they ought to have known. But he is now picking people he has tremendous trust in their ability.

“So, those criticizing him should let him do his work. If at the end of four years he did not perform, then Nigerians have another opportunity to either say carry on or stop.

“All these criticisms, I do not buy them. And the people who are criticising him probably they have never held any government position, they don’t know what is happening there, that all that glitters is not gold.”

Commenting on 100 days in office, Dr Ogbemudia said “first and foremost, Buhari was elected for four years and in the programme of events which led to the elections, at no time was hundred days mentioned.

“That they are being done in the past was perhaps a persuasive authority but that does not mean that everybody should keep to it. A programme well thought out to bring Nigeria back to the line of development, the line of security and so on, planning alone takes more than a hundred days.

“So, I expect that when eventually he finished the home work he will come out with something big. When he was elected, Nigerians have very high expectation of his performance and in order not to disappoint Nigerians, he wants to take time to plan his programme so that when eventually he pushes it out they will welcome it.

“So, they can excuse him because the Buhari they knew earlier on is no longer the same Buhari because this is a democracy. He has the National Assembly and the judicial arm now. His powers then is being shared with these two arms now.

“He cannot join the bandwagon, as a matter of fact that is why he wants to change the evil ways things are done before so that Nigeria will be better” he stated.
