Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole deployed around Gamboru Ngala have successfully averted what would have been a major devastating suicide attack carried out by three female Boko Haram terrorists against innocent citizens in Gamboru town in Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State in the early hours of Tuesday.
TROOPS AVERT MAJOR SUICIDE BOMB ATTACK ON GAMBORU TOWN
Two of the suicide bombers, strapped with suicide vests had attempted infiltrating Gamboru town at about 6.45 am when they were sighted by a joint patrol team of vigilant troops and Civilian JTF at Unguwar Yobe area shortly before entering the town. They were halted by the patrol team from a safe distance and were ordered to unstrap their suicide vests, to which they vehemently declined. All efforts and entreaties by the patrol team to make the suicide bombers remove their IED vests failed as the duo adamantly approached the troops armed with their IED vests. They were immediately neutralised by the troops, while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD) safely unstrapped and detonated the suicide vests.
A third female suicide bomber was detected and intercepted within the same general area and subsequently confessed to the joint patrol that she and the other two terrorists had been dispatched at about 3.30 am on Tuesday to unleash mayhem on Gamboru town. She also revealed the location she had hid her suicide vest and led the troops to recover it. The recovered vests and the surviving suicide bomber have been taken into custody for further interrogations.

The Kano State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of a teenage wife, Sadiya Umar, who allegedly poisoned her husband, Sani Umar, killing him two weeks after their wedding. It was learnt that the incident occurred at Yakasai quarters in the Kano metropolis.

According to reports, the late Sani, who allegedly ate a poisoned meal served by his wife, died 24 hours later while receiving treatment at the emergency ward of the Aminu Kano University Teaching Hospital.
The Kano State Police Command’s spokesman, Magaji Majiya, said the killer wife was arrested after two days of evading arrest.
Majiya said, “Three relations of the late Sani reported the incident to the Kofar Wambai Police Station on Monday.
“Immediately after the report, some policemen from the station went to the deceased home to arrest the wife. However, the wife had fled the house. She was eventually arrested yesterday (Monday).”
Majiya said the Commissioner of Police for the state had directed that the suspect be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
The police spokesman added that the remains of the late husband had been buried.

Benue Government Denies Arming Militia Group Against Fulani Herdsmen

The Benue State Government has denied arming militia groups to defend the people against the marauding Fulani herdsmen in the state. There were reports that troops of 93 Battalion of the Nigerian Army stationed in Takum, Taraba State, have arrested nine well-armed militia from Benue, claiming to be members of government sponsored security volunteers.

The armed gang were arrested at Arufu, a boundary town between Taraba and Benue States, a military intelligence source told told PRNigeria on Tuesday.
Reacting to the report, Tever Akase, media aide to governor Ortom said the story was false and misleading.
He called on the general public to disregard report.
“We read a news report insinuating that some youths arrested by the military at Arufu, a town between Benue and Taraba States are armed militia sponsored by the Benue State Government to defend the territory of the State against invaders.
“We wish to state categorically that the Benue State Government under Governor Samuel Ortom has not recruited any militia group and armed them since the Governor assumed office.
“Governor Ortom is widely recognized for his disarmament policy which brought the amnesty programme leading to the recovery of about 700 arms and ammunition with over 800 youths laying down their weapons to embrace the programme across the State.
“It is also on record that the present administration inherited the State Civilian Joint Task Force from the previous government but later proscribed it.
“Following the enactment of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law in Benue State last year, the Government set up Livestock Guards to help in implementation of the law. The Livestock Guards are not armed personnel. Their job is to ensure compliance with the regulation of ranches establishment and prohibition of open grazing of animals in the State.
“The Benue State Government believes in the use of conventional security agencies to protect the people. Even in the face of renewed killing of innocent people by herdsmen in Logo and Guma Local Government Areas, Governor Ortom did not let the people resort to self help. The Governor acted swiftly to get the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari for the deployment of more troops to troubled parts of the State.
“We reassure the people of Benue State and other Nigerians that the Government is committed to bringing the killings in the State to an end and restoring peace to the affected areas”, he said.

Kemi Olunloyo who announced getting back her freedom after her imprisonment for the the third time on her Instagram handle, also thanked those who helped in her release. She wrote;
“#BREAKING I have been released from Port Harcourt maximum prison for the third time in 12 months. To the Federal government of Nigeria, pls decongest #PHMax. Blogging my prison experience begins soon”
Recall that a blogger who visited Kemi Olunloyo in prison months ago, following her incarceration since October 12 2017 for Bench Warrant in what seemed to be a conspiracy by her former lawyer, wrote;
“Today, I visited Kemi Olunloyo @hnnAfrica at the Port Harcourt Maximum Prisons.
It was a touching moment. She has been incarcerated since October 12 2017 for Bench Warrant in what seemed to be a conspiracy by her former lawyer. She alleged that she had filed a request for absence in the court through her lawyer on health grounds only to discover that the letter was never submitted by her lawyer. In her words, her former lawyer was bought over by people who want to keep her continuously in detention.
Despite being incarcerated for weeks, she was still very strong. Her voice pitched high as usual and her words well chosen and spoken in her usual polished parlance.
I sat opposite her and listened as she recounted the moments of her arrest. She told me how a SARS officer without an ID nor a uniform arrested her in what initially seemed like a kidnap incident only to discover she had been carefully framed up and her detention process perfected to ensure the odds worked to disallow her from being granted bail.
At one point, she stared directly into my eyes and said.
”Phils, I am not safe here. I have been repeatedly told to be careful. My life is in danger here!”
Even in the stench of that badly kept facility, her raving smile was imminent. She would pause as she spoke and rekindle her words with an unassuming smile at each instance leaving strange emphasis at each turn and twist of her gory experience in the hands of the lawless Nigerian law. Kemi believes her ordeal is perpetuated by a powerful man of God in Rivers State whom she is up against in the court.
As I listened to her and knowing how controversial Kemi has come to be, I began searching for reasons to disbelieve her. I reflected on my encounters with prison staff right from the gate to the point of meeting Kemi inside the prisons. It was, perhaps, the most horrible site of corruption I have witnessed in recent times. Every point of encounter was an extortion centre for the prison staff. Every bit of that experience only helped me believe Kemi much more for I saw clearly a system where money could keep anyone longer behind those walls with just a few spread going to waiting pockets.
To fill a form to see a prisoner, one had to pay some naira, to submit the form, required another payment. To get it stamped required another payment, even to move from one office to another in the process of gaining entrance, you are required to make multiple payments as you get closer to the inner door that leads inside the prison. I have never seen such manner of widespread and open corrupt practice before. After multiple payments, I asked if these levies were legal and the answer I got was worse than the ugly experience of having to pay those illegal levies.
I reflected on these and on the future of Nigeria, my heart stopped beating for a moment. I was overtaken by the maze of thievery that was going on there. In my instance, I counted 12 visitors and imagined how much these prison staff had extorted in less than one hour from all of us. There and then, I knew Nigeria’s problems were far from the walls of Aso Rock. Our problems are not groomed from the green and red chambers of the National Assembly. Our problems lie in the decaying hearts of our citizens and the loose fabrics of our moral characters. Nigeria is installed on a faulty operating system infested with viruses stored in its root files.
Now, this is supposed to be a correctional facility where offenders are supposed to be rehabilitated to become better citizens but it seems more like a breeding house for criminals. A training ground to perfect crimes and to learn new acts to aide the disobedience of the law. Here, they have made extortion so normal it now seemed illegal not to engage in it. The Port Harcourt Maximum prison is clearly a den of thieves in government uniforms.
Still, Kemi was in front of me, her lips tired from the awful repetition of what she had passed through since that article of hers with contents spilt against a popular pastor in Port Harcourt landed her in this god forbidden hell. Her strength in the midst of misery remains a wonder. She picked up her pen and said:
“Phils, I have a message for my fans.”
She then penned it down thus (attached):
“I am grateful for my fans’ loyalty to me. I am in good spirits.”
Signed and dated it.
“ The next hearing is on the  December 12, 2017. That is when I will be granted bail again.”
She added.
For me that was it. If this experience was intended to break her spirit, she has refused to be broken. Before me, was no less, the very Kemi Oluloyo we all know.
Whoever initiated the re-arrest of Kemi will tell you he wanted justice; but I can tell you with what I saw at that prison today, before the Nigerian law, Kemi now needs justice more than anyone else in this case.

“The accident happened when Yusuf was trying to overtake Bashir. They collided and somersaulted. They lay unconscious there for a while before permission was sought to take them to the hospital.
A security vehicle was trailing and giving cover to the President’s son when the accident occurred.”

While celebrating the end of 2017, Oma Nnadi revealed she didn’t get movie roles for over two years because of her skin colour.
According to her, a friend of hers wanted to destroy her face through a cream she sold to her. She had ‘Fanta face, Coke body’ because the cream made her face three times lighter than her body.
Read the story Oma shared on her Instagram page below:
“To God be the glory. This year is finally coming to an end and honestly, i cannot say less. Its been great .
3 best Lessons to others
1) never feel superior to others. 2) never wish others ill. 3) never assume the best cannot come to others but you.
I once had a friend who tried to destroy my face through a cream she sold to me. She lured me into accepting it will make my skin pop. Of course she is a good talker.
While using the cream, my face became three times lighter than my body. You know what you call fanta face coke body. When I complained, she says to use the cream all over my body so they will rhyme which i also did.
Not until i started having very dark knuckles and decided to stop the cream that it attacked my face. I didn’t get called for movie roles for more than two years except for a certain movie producer who was about the acting skills and overlooked the face.
Thanks my darling Uche N.
So, as i was saying, this friend tells people i use cream made with relaxer but what she didn’t tell them is that she supplied it to me.
Well, Sorry to bore you with my story, its long gone just thought to share.

Earlier today, doctors protested the kidnap of Dr. Emem Udoh, a Senior Registrar in the Department of Paediatrics, University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, who was abducted by unknown gunmen on Monday, while on duty in Calabar, Cross River State. .
doctors protest in Cross River
This came barely two days after another medical practitioner with the Cross River State College of Education Medical Centre in the Akamkpa LGA, Dr. Usang Ekanem, was released following his abduction on December 26, 2017. .
There are indications that members of the state chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association may embark on an indefinite strike starting from Wednesday (today) in protest against the incessant abduction of their colleagues. .
The Public Relations Officer of the state branch of NMA, Dr. Ernest Ochang, said, “This is to inform the general public, particularly those resident in Cross River State that another medical doctor was kidnapped on January 8, 2018. .This is coming after Dr. Usang Ekanem was suddenly released after we threatened a sit at home action. The young doctor was coming back from an extended duty of caring for children which is her passion and had to work beyond her schedule due to the few hands available in her unit. .
We wish to inform Cross Riverians that this is one too many and a direct affront on our corporate existence. We took an oath to save lives and that much we must do. We pay tax and desire to live peacefully in the society. .
This targeted attack on us is unexplainable. What is more worrisome is the quietness of government whose responsibility is to provide security for its citizens. It is our collective resolve to call government to act through whatever means that is at our disposal.”
